Mariano Lake Community School - Health Services
Mariano Lake Community School maintains a safe and healthy learning environment. Students are monitored closely and checked regularly for physical and mental ailments that might interrupt the learning process. Any student experiencing contagious or allergic symptoms will be separated from classmates, and their parent/guardian will be contacted to pick them up.
Our standard for health care focuses on providing close attention to each student and ensuring immediate communication with every parent/guardian. Mariano Lake Community School, in collaboration with Indian Health Services, follows strict guidelines to reduce the spread of communicable diseases within the school:
- Take the student to the nearest hospital (Indian Health Service or private) for evaluation.
- Contact the student’s parent/guardian immediately about their condition.
- Work with the appropriate medical professional to determine if isolation or separation of the student is necessary.
- If necessary, place the student in a designated room and check on them every 10 minutes.
- Notify and provide details to all parents about any illness to which their children may have been exposed, including the name, outbreak, incubation period, and mode of transmission.
Before Mariano Lake Community School staff can administer any medications to a student, the proper paperwork must be completed, and the appropriate staff member(s) must be educated and trained on its proper timing, dosage, route, and documentation. We maintain clear and open communication and a collaborative approach to our health services. Our quality health services support your child’s overall well-being, including their physical, mental, emotional, and social needs.
