Family Involvement
Mariano Lake Community School - Family Involvement
Mariano Lake Community School encourages families to join our Bobcat organization as we educate the future of our Navajo Nation. Our educational program includes a dedicated team of faculty, staff and specialists who collaborate with families and students to develop impactful learning strategies. These school-student-family partnerships form strong bonds that foster consistent academic achievement and promote excellence.
A culture of lifelong learning begins in the home with the family's participation and continues with our teachers' guidance and support. Parents and guardians are their children's first teachers, and they should remain involved in their child's education after they begin attending school. Children with parents and guardians who are involved in the Family and Children Education program will experience significant gains in their statewide test performance.
Family involvement includes improving household literacy through reading initiatives that enable parents and guardians to assist their children in meeting all reading, writing and math standards. We also provide several opportunities throughout the school year for parents and guardians to visit the campus and engage with teachers during Parents' Nights and school board meetings. Parents and guardians are a student's greatest asset, and they help ensure a child's advancement to middle school, high school, and beyond.
Our Bobcat scholars are supported and prepared to be well-rounded citizens of our Navajo community through both academic and athletic programs. We invite families and community members in the Smith Lake and Pinedale chapters of the Crownpoint Judicial District to contribute their knowledge and support to Mariano Lake Community School's holistic curriculum. Through ongoing family and community involvement, our students will reach their highest potential.
