Our School

Yá'át'ééh! We are delighted to provide you with an overview of the Bobcat Organization and the Mariano Lake Community School. Our school educates students in grades Kindergarten through 6th, serving the Smith Lake and Pinedale Districts. At Mariano Lake, we believe in the importance of holistic education, which is why we offer a range of activities.

Our athletics program encourages students to embrace teamwork and healthy competition through sports like cross-country and basketball. Alongside this, we prioritize full-time classroom instruction and incorporate technology devices into our curriculum, ensuring that our students receive a modern and comprehensive education.

We invite you to explore the wide array of activities we offer, as they are an integral part of our commitment to providing students with a well-rounded and enriching educational experience.

The philosophy of Mariano Lake Community School is to empower students through the principles of Nitsahakees, Nahat'a, lina,and doo Siihasin to become analytical, critical thinkers and the leaders of tomorrow. 

Strategic Transformation of Education Plan (STEP)

Mariano Lake Community School has implemented the Strategic Transformation of Education Plan initiative – a digital learning portal with a blended learning approach. Our students can maximize this opportunity by accessing the digital learning portal with a 1:1 student-laptop usage ratio. This approach gives our students the advantage of integrated applications and a robust learning strategy.

Message from the Principal

Yá'át'ééh, Mariano Lake Community School Families! 

I am honored to introduce myself as Ms. Vickie Blackwater, your new principal at Mariano Lake Community School. I am excited to join this vibrant and diverse community and look forward to working together to support the growth and success of all our students. 

In Navajo culture, we believe in the power of education to shape a brighter future for our youth. As Diné people, we value respect, resilience and collaboration in all that we do. I am committed to upholding these values in my role as your principal and creating a nurturing and empowering environment for our students to thrive. 

I am here to listen, learn and lead with compassion and dedication. Together, let us embrace the rich tapestry of our community and work towards excellence in education for every child at Mariano Lake Community School.
