FACE Program
Mariano Lake Community School - FACE Program
Mariano Lake Community School participates in the Family and Child Education (FACE) program, providing families with classes in preschool and early childhood development. The FACE program's purpose is to prepare children for timely enrollment in school and offer adult education and employability training for parents/guardians. Classes are available at home or on-site in the learning center.
Parents/guardians are a child's first teacher and their home is their first learning environment. FACE helps families reach critical developmental goals before kindergarten by offering behavioral and cognitive skills instruction. The FACE program introduces the skill sets and habits students need for classroom participation. From prenatal to early childhood, FACE helps parents/guardians with their child's transition from home learning to the classroom.
FACE provides early identification of a child's special needs and learning disabilities before they are enrolled in school. Teams of highly trained and experienced educators and specialists ensure that a child's academic achievement and overall progress are uninterrupted. Household literacy and early reading habits are benefits of a family's participation in the FACE program. Parents/guardians improve their ability to assist their children with school assignments.
Increasing the life skills of parents/guardians is a key part of the FACE program's services. Parents/guardians develop better strategies for entering the workforce, such as earning a general education diploma, completing job training, receiving career placement assistance, etc. FACE integrates language and cultural education services into its program, allowing Mariano Lake Community's Navajo families to celebrate their unique culture and linguistic diversity.
