New Mexico Students Win National Art Contest

New Mexico and the BIE are proudly represented by two outstanding student artists who have been selected as national winners in the American Heroes Student Art Contest in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.
- Mila from Mariano Lake Community School won the Elementary Division.
- Ibnijah from Alamo Navajo Community School won the High School Division.
Both students created powerful artworks honoring Abraham Lincoln, each using their own artistic style and vision. Their pieces are featured at the American Heroes Student Art Exhibition now at the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
These young artists will be honored at the Student Award Ceremony on Wednesday, July 8, from 10:00–11:30 a.m. at the USDA Patio/Atrium.
New Mexico celebrates Mila and Ibnijah for their creativity, talent, and dedication. Their work reflects both artistic skill and a deep understanding of the heroes who shaped our nation. Congratulations to both winners!
